Two Massachusetts Businesses Make Oprah’s Favorite Holiday Things List!
Who needs Powerball when you have Oprah’s Favorite Things?
A West Roxbury designer’s winter gloves and a Woburn company’s sandwich-making toaster oven hit the big time this year, landing on Oprah’s Favorite Things list for the 2022 holiday season.
Talk about hitting the jackpot!
The Dawn Glove made by Top It Off Accessories in West Roxbury is one of 104 items that made this year’s edition of the annual gift list.
For $22, they feature small pads embroidered on the index finger and thumb of each glove that are compatible with touchscreens. Colors include plaids in red, plaid, blue, black and green.
“These gloves are from a female-owned business called Top It Off Accessories, and I am going to top them off by giving them with some hand cream,” according to OprahDaily.com. “The plaid print is a crowd-pleaser, and you can keep them on while you use your phone thanks to touchscreen capabilities.”
So who are these local designers?
Elizabeth Hoenscheid and Karena Rasser founded Top It Off in 2003. They are known for their their hand-sewn ribbon belts and their products are now carried in more than 2,000 boutiques and gift stores around the United States, Canada and Caribbean, according to WCVB-TV.
“It’s a game-changer,” Hoenscheid told WCVB. “It really is incredible just to see the immediate sales go through the roof.
Winfrey highlighted women-owned small businesses this year.
Hoenscheid told WCVB-TV that they sent samples to Oprah, which is key to getting on the list.
“Oprah, to our understanding, touches and feels and checks everything out. So she really puts her stamp on this,” she told WCVB-TV.
Top It Off Accessories has kept this secret since AUGUST. They’ve been boosting inventory since then, because, let’s face it, Oprah’s got the golden touch.
