Dangerous Rhinestone Steering Wheels are Wreaking Havoc on the Highways

Bling This One Thing In Your Car and It Might Kill You!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is telling people not to put pretty rhinestones on their steering wheel, because they can become dislodged in a crash, and poke your eye out.

OK, OK. We know the allure of bedazzling the bejeezus out of things.

Blinging out your car is like putting sprinkles on your ice cream – it's super fun and trendy, but it can also turn your ride into a blinding, bedazzled circus on wheels. The glittery world of fuzzy dice, disco balls, and rhinestone steering wheel covers are a hotbed of highway DISASTERS.

Imagine rolling down the street with fuzzy dice hanging from your rearview mirror. They swing and sway like a hypnotist's pendulum, making it impossible to focus on the road. You'll end up trying to decode the meaning of life instead of paying attention to traffic.

Disco balls? Sure, they're great at parties, but on your dashboard? That glittering mirror ball will have you swerving like a drunk disco diva.

Rhinestone steering wheel covers sound glamorous, but they're like driving with a mini disco ball in your hands. If your airbag pops, those rhinestones will fly at your face, making you look like you just had a bedazzled pillow fight with your car's dashboard.

Blinged-out cars are attention magnets, but not the kind you want. People might mistake your ride for a mobile jewelry store and try to haggle for a deal!

So, while bedazzling your car might be a sparkling dream come true, remember that safety is a gem you can't afford to lose. Keep the bling for your outfits, not your ride. Because in the world of cars, too much glitter can turn your highway fantasy into a disco inferno!

Officials say that kitschy bling like this might seem pretty and fun . . . but it's dangerous and even DEADLY.  If the airbags deploy, those decorations could become shrapnel-like projectiles.

They say at least one driver lost an eye when an emblem with rhinestones got dislodged in a crash, and hit the driver in the face.

You've been warned. And check this out:
