Harry Potter Spells Actually Work On This One Animal
Can Harry Potter Spells Work on Animals? Maybe.
Do you ever daydream about waving a wand and making things happen, just like they do in the Harry Potter books? Imagine the thrill of mastering spells like Accio, Lumos, or even Expelliarmus! It would be a wizard wonderland HERE ON EARTH!
What Kind of Spells Would Be The Best?
Let’s start with Accio, the Summoning Charm. Picture this: you’re cozy on the couch, craving a snack from the kitchen. Instead of getting up, you simply flick your wand and say, “Accio popcorn!” Voila! Your favorite treat comes flying to you. Lazy? Maybe. Awesome? Absolutely!
Then there’s Lumos, the spell to light up the tip of your wand. No more fumbling for the light switch in the dark! With Lumos, you can explore hidden passages, read under the covers past bedtime, or just add a touch of enchantment to your evening stroll.
And who wouldn’t want to master Expelliarmus, the Disarming Charm? Imagine winning every argument with a flick of your wrist, disarming your opponent (figuratively, of course) and leaving them speechless. I’d eat all the gross ones from Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans!
But here’s the thing: as much as we’d love to learn these spells, we’re just Muggles. No magical powers for us, right? Well, not necessarily. Enter man’s best friend: the dog.
But Can Harry Potter Spells Work on Animals?
There’s this amazing woman on TikTok who’s casting a spell on all of us by teaching her dog – named Dobby, of course! – to fall under Harry Potter spells. It’s pure delight! OK, maybe the pooch isn’t responding to commands like Wingardium Leviosa (levitation charm) or Petrificus Totalus (full body-bind curse), it’s still inothing short of enchanting.
“Accio” means “come” because in Harry’s world, you say that when you want something to magically come to you. “Expelliarmus” – the disarming spell – means “drop it.”When Dobby is told to “go to Azkaban,” he gets into his crate. Azkaban is the prison in the books and movies! Finally, Dobby plays dead when he hears “Avada Kadavra”, which is the killing curse.
Sure, her pup might not be casting spells in the traditional sense, but the joy it brings is undeniable. Who needs a wand when you have a wagging tail and a heart full of magic?
Check Dobby out:
@dobbyisafreedoodle So if Dobby responds to Harry Potter spells, does that make him a wizard? Or does that make me a witch casting spells on my muggle dog? 🤔 I knew long before Dobby came along that I would train my future dog with Harry Potter spells instead of regular commands. I love feeling like I have real life magical powers everytime I ask him to come, stay, or play dead 🪄 Some fun facts about our spells: 🪄 Accio (come / recall) was the first spell Dobby learned at 11 weeks old, and Liam was actually the one to teach Dobby to Accio! 🪄 Protego was supposed to be "leave it", but the words "leave it" come screaming out of my mouth much more naturally when Dobby tries to eat garbage on our walks, so we changed Protego to tuck 🪄 We tried Petrificus Totalus for stay, but it was too much of a mouthful for a command that's used frequently, so we opted for Immobulus instead (we're now working on Petrificus Totalus for "sit pretty") 🪄 Avada Kedavra is the most requested spell by people we meet out in the world who learn that Dobby know Harry Potter commands 🪄 Go to Azkaban is my personal favourite - it makes me laugh every night to send him to Azkaban and see him happily trot into his crate! 🪄 Ascendio and Descendo also mean jump up / jump down 🪄 Stupefy is the spell we use most often on a daily basis What other spells should Dobby learn at Dogwarts this year? #harrypottertiktok #harrypottertok #harrypotter #harrypotterdog #dogwarts #harrypotterspells #accio #expelliarmus #avadakedavra #azkaban #yerawizard #dogtok #dogtraining #trainyourdog #tricktraining
