Danger! Massachusetts State Lottery JAWS Ticket Is Coming
Just when we thought we have seen enough shark sightings, the Massachusetts State Lottery JAWS ticket is about to take a bite out of your wallet.
Your lotto friends are getting into the travel business with your chance to visit the place where it all started, the real life “Amityville.”
If your JAWS ticket isn’t a winner, you may still win a trip to Martha’s Vineyard where the movie was filmed for The 50th anniversary of JAWS next year.
JAWS 50th Anniversary
It’s hard to believe that 50 years ago next June we first heard the words “don’t go near the water.” A young wet behind the ears director named Stephen Spielberg bit off more than he could chew, literally, taking on JAWS. While it was to become one of the biggest movie blockbusters of all time, it didn’t start out that way.
In later years Spielberg would say that the mechanical shark never worked. Because of unexpected New England weather conditions, and other obstacles they could not control, they got behind and over budget. The film crew lost hope and became depressed. Spielberg said the mechanical shark not working was divine intervention. He stumbled into the fact that not seeing the shark was actually scarier than a broken fake shark jumping out of the water. Add to that, the brilliant and frightening John Williams JAWS soundtrack sealed the deal for guaranteed fear.
After the premiere of JAWS, June 20 1975 was the last time we went into the water!
JAWS Martha’s Vineyard
Back in 2014, thanks to a very generous friend, I spent my honeymoon at my friends house, directly on the actual beach where JAWS was filmed. It didn’t take long to find exactly what we needed in the cute little Vineyard shops to track down all of the JAWS filming locations, which made for a very memorable honeymoon. Many of the buildings, homes, waterfronts, bridges and docks used in the movie are still there!
