Eric Carmen Passed Away, Loved By All, Including John Lennon
Eric Carmen passed away. What a heartbreaking way to end a Monday night.
It broke late last night that the iconic 1970’s star Eric Carmen passed away. The news was announced on his website by his wife Amy. She wrote:
“It is with tremendous sadness that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Eric Carmen,” his wife, Amy Carmen, wrote on the singer’s website. wrote. “Our sweet, loving and talented Eric passed away in his sleep, over the weekend. It brought him great joy to know, that for decades, his music touched so many and will be his lasting legacy.”
Carmen was the founder and lead singer of the iconic 70’s band The Raspberries. Eric had four sizeable hits including, Go All The Way, Let’s Pretend, I Wanna Be With You and Overnight Sensation. What followed was an amazing solo career with giant hits like All By Myself, Never Gonna Fall In Love Again, and from Dirty Dancing, Hungry Eyes.

It was reported that Eric Carmen was such an influence on so many. Beatle’s icon John Lennon visited the recording studio to watch The Raspberries record. According to ericcarmen.com:
Eric Carmen is said to have met John Lennon for the first time at the Record Plant where the Raspberries were recording their Starting Over album. John Lennon is said to have loved the Raspberries album and rumour has it that John assisted the group with the mix of their song “Overnight Sensation.”
Friends And Celine Dion
Carmen’s music was loved so much it was used long after it’s release. An episode of Friends called “The One Where Eddie Moves In” used All By Myself. Add to that, in 1996, Celine Dion covered All By Myself, making it a hit again, for her.
It’s hard to believe that Eric Carmen passed away at the age of 74. But his iconic music will live on forever. Enjoy Hungry Eyes. 210 million views can’t be wrong.
