You know the names. These 2 celebrities abandoned California, but why?
The migration continues. In the new post Covid, mobile world we live in, we can do anything we want, from almost anywhere. It wasn’t that long ago that there was one rule to make it in Hollywood: you had to live there. Well, many who have made it, are packing thier bags and moving out. It’s not that hard to figure it out. Let’s take a look who left, and why.
Sly Stallone
Hollywood’s 2 biggest celebrities abandoned California. One is Sly Stallone.
He recently revealed that he’s leaving California in one of the most ironic ways, while on TV. During an episode of his reality show, the Rocky star announced to his family that they are relocating to Florida. According to Epoc Times:
“After a long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided it’s time to move on and leave the state of California permanently, and we’re going to go to Florida,” Mr. Stallone told his three daughters—Scarlet, 21, Sistine, 25, and Sophia, 27—during the season 2 premiere of his family’s Paramount+ reality TV series, “The Family Stallone.”
Mark Wahlberg
Massachusetts celebrities abandoned California as well. Mark Wahlberg recently moved to Nevada to enhance the lifestyle of his family, putting his kids first. People.com reported:
“So to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer — this made a lot more sense for us,” he explained. “There’s lots of opportunity here. I’m really excited about the future.” Mark did say he misses the LA weather, but is glad his family is happy.
These 2 Celebrities Abandoned California: Why?
On paper, family may be the reason these celebrities abandoned California.
But there is another very attractive reason why many with wealth have moved out of California: money. Florida and Nevada residents pay zero income tax. While Sly and Mark may not say that in these heartfelt family interviews, the move will save them millions of dollars. Add to that housing costs in California have skyrocketed.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, reportedly the richest man in the world, left California and moved to Florida. Maybe he can hang out with Tom Brady, who also lives there.
Leaving California
Alot more than just 2 celebrities abandoned California. In total, more than 343,000 Californians left the Golden State for another state in 2022, the highest number of any U.S. state according to US Census Bureau data.
