General Hospital Rick Springfield Reunion Has Fans Freaking Out
A General Hospital Rick Springfield reunion? While I’m not your average GH fan, I am married to one, who is also a GIANT Rick Springfield fan.
Who isn’t? But many Rick Springfield fans also know his other persona: TV STAR.
Dr. Noah Drake
Right before the explosion of the 1981 hit Jessie’s Girl, Rick became a doctor. On March 25, 1981, pop rock music began a longtime relationship with an iconic soap opera named General Hospital. Rick made his television acting debut portraying neurosurgeon Doctor Noah Drake. Ironically, the producers did not allow Rick to sing, because they felt it didn’t fit his character, until later. It wasn’t until 2007 that GH bosses finally let Rick sing on the show. Rick came back as a Drake look-alike, playing fictional rock star, Eli Love.
Rick became so popular, the shows producers asked him back several times. In 2013, Rick Springfield, played Rick Springfield, and made an appearance on the shows 50th’s Anniversary. What’s better, he sang his massive hit Jessie’s Girl at the “2013 Nurses Ball.”
Rick In Concert
Last August here in Massachusetts at the Lynn Auditorium Rick Springfield STUNNED the audience with a high energy non stop show of hits and memories.
The night started with opening acts, Paul Young, Tommy Tutone and The Hooters.
The night changed the moment he hit the stage. Right before our eyes, we saw an actual TV star, movie star and rock star. His set opened with memorable clips of all of media success stories. While you see his uncanny modern day youth on TV and pictures, to see him in person is stunning. He looks YOUNGER THAN EVER. I was lucky enough to meet him again backstage. We met Rick in 2006. He looks YOUNGER TODAY. The moment he walked out, the audience knew we were in the presence of a true rock star. From that second, his charm, charisma and energy owned the night. It was a wonderful reminder that how great our life was, in the 1980’s. Rick made everyone feel GOOD, not old.
Rick LOVES His Audience
During his performance of Human Touch, Rick jumped into the first two rows, and hugged, kissed or high five every fan AS HE WAS SINGING. He did this WITHOUT help from security. Everyone was respectful, but got their share of love with a the rock icon of their childhood. I was lucky enough to get a dose, twice, backstage and as part of the show. He even remembered me and gave me a high five. It was night NO one that attended will ever forget.
New England Shows
Rick is coming to New England in January! It’s a special acoustic show with Richard Marx. Get tickets for their Foxwoods Connecticut Show January 19, and The Shubert Boston show January 27!
General Hospital Rick Springfield Reunion
You can’t have a GH reunion without Noah Drake. According to newsbreak.com:
Soaps in Depth is reporting that General Hospital will continue celebrating 60 years on ABC in the New Year. On January 4th at 10:00 PM a special will air with GH cast members past and present. Stephen A Smith (Brick) will be on hand as will Amber Tamblyn (ex-Emily Quartermaine) and Rick Springfield (ex-Noah Drake).
If my TV is not on ABC, 10pm January 4, I may be starting the New Year in the hospital.
