Red Sox Celebrate Barbie at “Kenway” Friday Night

Like it or not, it's a Barbie world, as the Red Sox celebrate Barbie at "Kenway" Friday night.

The Barbie world of PINK, clashes with the world of GREEN at Fenway, which will be renamed, Kenway, named after Barbie's BF, Ken.

The last place Red Sox, are shooting for something close to the top. So why not make it the number one movie of 2023. According to WCVB:

"Whether you're a Barbie or just Ken (or even Allan), help us kick off Barbie Night with our pregame Pink Party on the Sam Deck and dance the night away!" the team's announcement said.

The team will even have some merchandise for fans who purchase tickets on their website.

While I am little surprised that the Red Sox are aligning with something so far away from anything sports, or baseball or Boston, you can't argue with the success of the movie. According to Box Office Mojo:

Barbie is currently the 14th highest-earning film of all time at the worldwide box office with $1.4 billion in earnings, per Box Office Mojo, despite having been banned in a handful of countries. 

Forbes reports:

After earning $3.5 million in its ninth weekend in theaters, Barbie has now surpassed Marvel’s Avengers to become the 11th top-earning film of all time in terms of domestic sales.  Let's repeat that: It has surpassed Avengers. So for this moment in time, girl power is stronger than nerd power.

If you're like me and one of the uncool people that simply didn't get it, us stragglers can buy Barbie on Amazon Prime for $29.99, and watch it over and over. Also it's coming to HBO Max October 25.

Well, everyone knows someone who's a fan. So I wont judge as we watch the Red Sox celebrate Barbie, at Kenway, Friday night. But, please, please, PLEASE, NO PINK uniforms. Thank you.

In recognition of Rotten Tomatoes' 25th anniversary  critics voted on the Top 12 films of the last 25 years. It is amazing to think that some of these movies are now a quarter of a century old. Some of them can be seen rerunning daily on your cable or streaming service because they have stood the test of cinema time.

The best reasons we watch these great movies over and over is because they are highly rated on the website rotten tomatoes. The concept behind the website and its ranking system is unique. Movies are ranked on audience reviews not some lofty critic in New York or Hollywood telling us whether or not we should see it.

Before the rotten tomatoes system of ranking movies based on the public’s feelings of them. We would rely on critics like Siskel and Ebert, who would simply talk about the movies on their weekly show.  They would give the movie either a thumbs up or thumbs down. That was all we needed. They've been gone a long time and the internet was in its infancy when their show went off the air.

As you look at the list, you should keep in mind how many of these you have seen. If you are like our family, you are always looking for something to watch on one of these streaming services. So if anything, else, use this list as something to consider when you’re looking for a movie to watch on movie night.

We bet that you will not agree that these are the 12 best movies since 2000 because you will see that there are movies from the comedic field that are not represented. Movies like the hangover, wedding crashers, bridesmaids and so many more. But remember these are movies that scored the highest ranking on the website rotten tomatoes.

Starring Brad Pitt as the leader of the Fight Club with a surprising twist at the end. It's become a cult classic over the past 25 years.

Starring Tom Hanks and Matt Damon among others it is a must watch for any fan of war movies or anyone without knowledge of D-Day. The opening 30 minutes are both brutal and necessary to convey the real feel of war.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, who also produced the film with Emma Thomas, his wife. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a professional thief who steals information by infiltrating the subconscious of his targets. If it's directed by Chris Nolan, it has to be good.

It stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, Matt Damon, and Michael Caine. Set in a dystopian future where humanity is embroiled in a catastrophic blight and famine, the film follows a group of astronauts who travel through a wormhole near Saturn in search of a new home for humankind. Again, if it's directed by Chris Nolan, it's going to be good.
