Matt Damon In Quincy Filming New Movie
With Matt Damon in Quincy, the Cambridge native and movie star is never far away from home. It was this month, December 5, 1997, that his iconic Good Will Hunting was released. Damon along with his friend, Ben Affleck, wrote the script that became on of the feel good movie stories of all time, launching their writing, producing and actor career.
Ben and Matt’s New Company
Good Will Hunting is not the first project Matt and Ben have worked on together. On top of being life long friends, they recently launched their production company, Artists Equity. The first movie from their production company is the 2023 movie Air, which is about the Michael Jordan Nike story. It grossed about $90 million on a budget of $70 million, to generally favorable reviews. I really liked it.
Why Was Damon Spotted in Quincy?
It wasn’t just Matt Damon that was spotted in Quincy this week. Side by side next to Matt, was another movie pal, Casey Affleck.
They were spotted in Quincy this week filming a NEW, Damon, Affleck produced movie called, The Instigators, starring Damon and brother Affleck.
According to IMDb.com , “The Instigators” is about two robbers and a therapist who go on the run after a botched job. The movie, directed by Doug Liman, is in post-production, and it’s expected to be released in 2024.
So far, we’ve seen the film crew outside Malachy’s Saloon on Granite Street on Tuesday morning. Scenes using Matt Damon and Casey Affleck were shot outside the Squantum Yacht Club at Wollaston Beach.
The production company takes care of the community as well. According to the patriotledger:
“The movie productions pay residents, businesses and the city well for space and services. “The Instigators” used a Squantum home for hair and makeup Tuesday.” It’s reported that Malachy’s Saloon was paid to film inside.
“The Instigators” reportedly will premiere on Apple TV+ next year.
