No Sinking Ship For Kate Winslet
You forget she’s British..
I don’t do this often. But when I find a show that has almost everything, I have to share it. Kate Winslet is an extremely believable mom-slash Delaware detective who’s life is weirder than the crimes she’s facing. She’s maybe the most popular UN-popular small town cop that is seconds away from solving the towns biggest crime, if her own personal life doesn’t get in the way.
Make no mistake. This is NOT a comedy. At times, (more than not) Mare Of Easttown, is dark, a little depressing, and a little overwhelming. What keeps you hangin’ in, is that these regular people with hard lives, could be us during the hard times we ALL can experience in life. The actors look and feel real, with no makeup, tired and frazzled.
But right before you say I’ve had enough, Mare’s mom, Designing Woman’s Jean Smart rolls in with a hysterical 1980’s sitcom moment that somehow, fits.
Winslet keeps THIS ship afloat. HBO has already set sail for Season Two.
Climb aboard.
