Celebrate Grandma with McDonald's Limited-Edition McFlurry!

Hey McDonald's fans. Starting May 21, McDonald's is launching something extra special to celebrate the grandmas in our lives. Introducing the Grandma McFlurry – a sweet, nostalgic treat perfect for sharing with your favorite lady.

Remember those impromptu ice cream trips with grandma? Now, you can relive those precious moments with the Grandma McFlurry. This limited-edition dessert features creamy vanilla soft serve blended with delicious syrup and crunchy candy pieces. It’s a flavor mix that’s bound to remind you of the sweet treats grandma always had stashed in her purse. (We're talking Werther's Originals quality here.)

The Grandma McFlurry Experience

Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald's, shared his excitement about the new dessert. “Grandmas have always held a special place in our hearts. Today, they’re influencing culture, from fashion to food. The Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we’re thrilled to give our fans this experience while honoring the grandma-figures in our lives.

What better way to celebrate grandma than with music? McDonald’s is teaming up with two amazing artists to bring fresh takes on classic hits. Remi Wolf will cover the timeless “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)” and Latin sensation Jay Wheeler will deliver a new rendition of “Piel Canela.” Both tracks will be available on all music platforms starting May 21, just in time to enjoy them with your Grandma McFlurry.

Wait, there's more: Introducing Grandma's McFlurry Mobile:

Get ready, New York City! McDonald's is rolling out Grandma's McFlurry Mobile, their unique twist on the classic ice cream truck. This mobile treat station will offer free first tastes of the Grandma McFlurry before it hits the restaurants. (Bummer. It's only in NYC.)

Mark your calendars:

  • Friday, May 17, from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.: Catch the McFlurry Mobile at Herald Square, 104 W 35th St (corner of W 34th St. and Broadway).
  • Saturday, May 18: The truck will visit senior centers and assisted living homes in East Harlem from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and Flushing from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Keep your ears open for the familiar McDonald's jingle and snag a free taste!

This initiative isn’t just about ice cream; it’s about connecting generations. McDonald's recognizes that many seniors experience loneliness, and this event is a beautiful way to bridge that gap. Visiting senior centers and assisted living homes, Grandma's McFlurry Mobile aims to bring joy and connection to grandparents and their families.

McDonald’s is also donating to Little Brothers - Friends of the Elderly, a national organization dedicated to supporting older adults who feel isolated and lonely.

Whether you call her Grams, Abuela, Oma, Lola, Halmoni, or Yiayia, this is the perfect time to make new memories with McDonald's Grandma McFlurry.

So, grab your grandma and head to McDonald's for a taste of the past and a celebration of all the love she’s given. The Grandma McFlurry is here to make your summer even sweeter. Don’t miss out – it’s only available while supplies last.

11 Mouthwatering Discontinued McDonalds Meals Better Than Shamrock Shake

Gone but not forgotten

We all know the symbolic golden arches, you remember that first bite into the Big Mac, how golden and crispy those fries are plus the best soft drinks in the world, so in honor of McDonald’s bringing back the Shamrock shake, let’s take a look back at some of the special menu items McDonalds has discontinued.

The McDLT aka. The McDeluxe

The Tomato and lettuce were the selling points of this menu item. This item was discontinued off the menus in 1998 because it’s Styrofoam packaging was particularly bad for the environment.

McPizza

Say what you will about this item, it was definitely worth the wait in my opinion, but sadly not everyone thought the same thing and waiting for an average of 16min was it’s downfall.

McSpaghetti

Introduced in the 70’s this was a staple menu item with it’s delicious marinara sauce grated parmesan cheese, and at one point offered meatballs. Legend say’s their is only one McDonalds that still serves it on it’s menu

Onion Nuggets

Introduced in 1975 as an option for vegetarians, sadly it didn’t stick as weeks later they rolled out the McNugget.

McFish Bites

This one didn’t last very long, it was released in 2013 and only four months after its launch it was discontinued due to lack of sales.

Arch Deluxe

One of McDonalds biggest flops of all time. This burger was geared towards a more adult crowd, but never stuck.

Chicken Fajita

This is the best burrito in the world, a campaign needs to start to bring these back ASAP.

Big N Tasty

This was McDonalds answer to rival with Burger King’s Whopper. The big selling point for the Big N Tasty was it’s new sauce. It only lasted for 11 years.

All Day Breakfast

This one didn’t have a long shelve life, it was taken off the menu after it was too much of a pain to serve it all day. So now it’s back to getting to McD’s before 10:30a

McSalad Shakers

Call it for what it’s worth but this salad was sneaky good, especially if you were on the go. The 3 salads they offer was Grilled Chicken Caesar, Chef, and Garden.

McLobster

Making it’s debut in 1993 the McLobster, but due to shipping supplies and it being unprofitable they dropped it from it’s menu. Only Canada and New England areas thrived but it was still dropped from the menu
