Did you happen to see the story about the oh so adorable beagles that were brought to the MSPCA here in Massachusetts from Virginia? Some are ready for adoption now.

Ohmygod. The Humane Society stepped in and rescued four thousand beagles that were in a facility that was woefully unable to care for them. The beagles have been relocated all over the country and about two hundred of them will be available for adoption right here in Massachusetts in the coming weeks.

I can't even think about what those poor dogs have been through. There were dogs of all ages at that Virginia facility; little puppies and adult dogs who can now live out their lives being cared for by someone who loves and cherishes them.

I would love to have a dog but after having one for fifteen years, I know the responsibility and the expense that comes with adding a dog to your family.

My little girl.

My little girl.

I currently live with a cat. Dogs are far more social than cats. You can leave a cat for the day to go to work. But a dog? I've left my cat for an overnight without someone looking in on him. But a dog? You can't do that with a dog.

So, I look at these puppies and dream about bringing one home. But the reality is, at this time, I couldn't give a dog the attention it deserves. Unless my workplace allows us to start bringing our dogs to work. That could be a possible game changer. Then again, mine isn't the kind of job I can just stop down and take the dog out for a bathroom break.

So for now, I'll just gaze into these cute little puppy eyes and hope they all get adopted by warm, loving people who make them forget they were ever in that awful Virginia facility.

(If I were able to get one of these beagles though, I'd think I'd name it Snoopy, after that most famous of beagles.)
