Prepare to be Scared! The MOST EXPENSIVE Halloween Candies This Year!

Inflation has helped push price of everything through the roof. It's enough to make ghosts and goblins take the year off.

The average candy bar cost has surged 13 percent, according to the Labor Department

Candy sales averaged about $8.9billion from 2017 to 2019, with a peak of $9.1billion during 2017, prior to the pandemic

The total bill has Americans spending a total of $10.6billion on Halloween candy for 2022, according to the National Retail Foundation. For comparison, Americans spent $10.1 billion last year.

But why?

NPR reported sugar is up 17 % since last September, fueled by supply chain issues and low beet sugar production.

Sugar beets?

Yup, they are key to candy production.

And according to Forbes.com, beet production in the United States and worldwide overall was down in 2022, due to a wide range of factors ranging from weather to labor and cost.

"Since sugar beets require large amounts of fertilizer, which was more costly than usual, some farmers simply planted less. Issues such as heavy rainfall, contract negotiation delays, summer hailstorms and rising expenses in production all led to less sugar."

That's tricky!

Meanwhile, you'll be paying more to make sure the neighborhood kids don't TP your yard,

Here are the candies that aren't so dandy this Halloween:

5. Hershey's Candy

Now this is a treat! Hershey's hasn't raised prices this Halloween. The trick? They went up in price last spring. Boo!

4. Butterfingers

Six percent!

3. Nestle' Crunch

Seven percent! For what? Rice Krispies in chocolate? It's a breakfast bar not a candy!

2. Starburst

Up 35% . INFLATE THIS, STARBURST!

1. Skittles

Up 42%? Taste the rainbow? Taste inflation instead. Also, Skittles are really disappointing candy-wise.
