Adults Are Trying To Save Money And Order Off The Kid’s Menu
Is it okay to order off the kid’s menu if you’re an adult? What about ordering off the kid’s menu at a restaurant even if you don’t have any kids with you? Would you be too embarrassed to order something like the “kiddie burger” or the “dino nuggets”? Most people would say yes, but with the troubled economy and high inflation, there’s a growing number of adults that are okay with ordering off the kid’s menu.
The Kid’s Menu is now fair game for adults?
Is it accepted behavior to order off the kid’s menu at a non-fast food chain? We all know that parents have enjoyed a happy meal day for themselves and most chains do not care if you do it. When it comes to fine dining places, they probably do, and with good reasons. They are in the business of selling higher end meals and alcoholic drinks, not chicken nug nugs with fries and a juice box.
So, if you try to order off the kid’s menu at a fine dining or adult restaurant you might want to stick to the big kid’s menu, or they might ask if you want some crayons to keep you busy.
There are people like a guy I work with that has figured out a hack to order off the kid’s menu. He orders take out online and rolls up to the cashier to pick up his kid’s burger and fries at a higher end restaurant in his town that offers take out. He swears that the burger is the same size as the regular adult burger and they still give him enough fries to be very satisfied. If someone asks where the kids (which he says they never do), he tells them that his kid is doing his school work at home.
People are ordering off the kid’s menu more than ever
A new poll found the average American spends over $2,500 a year on restaurant food now. That’s over $200 a month even though two-thirds said they’re currently stressed about money.
But here’s something that might save you some money if more places would let you do it . . .
77% of us think adults should be allowed to order off the KIDS’ MENU. Some places don’t care, but a lot of them don’t allow it.
21% of us have tried to order off the kids’ menu before, and a third of those people said they’ve been rejected at least once.
The survey also found we’ll probably be ordering more food this weekend than we did last weekend. Tomorrow’s the 15th. 48% said the time they’re most likely to eat out is right after their paycheck lands.
