If you ever wondered how well a good pool cover works than you have to watch this video of a car drive onto a pool cover and didn't sink. We are not sure how or why the woman crashed through the fence and onto the pool but, she probably owes her life to a very strong pool cover.

Pool owners know that they have to cover their pools in the offseason to keep everything out of it from leaves to creatures and even little people. Who would have ever thought that the pool cover would keep cars out of the pool?

We have a backyard pool in our house and the previous owners bought a very expensive and strong cover for it. It's the kind that you need extra hands to set up at the end of the season. It weighs close to 80 pounds rolled and dried up. Fortunately we have a great pool company that comes with a large enough crew to both open and close the pool.

I once asked the guys that were covering the pool at the end of the summer season how strong the cover was in case someone were to accidently fall or walk on it. They told me that an elephant could walk across it and not fall in. That sounded like hyperbole to me at the time but, now that I have seen this video, I'm convinced that perhaps a small elephant might be able to do just that!

Here's the story and video

Whoever manufactures this pool cover makes a very fine product.  Some woman in Georgia drove her Toyota Corolla through a fence and into a community pool.  But the pool cover held, so the car didn't sink.  A cop smashed out a window and got her out.  It's still not clear why she crashed, but it sounds like she's okay.

Which States Have the Most Backyard Pools? Massachusetts Makes the Top 10!

In some states a backyard pool is a bit more of a necessity. If you live in a landlocked state that has warmer-than-average temperatures, for example, you're probably more likely to have a pool in the backyard... or if you're Florida. Have you ever noticed while flying into Orlando that it looks like literally everyone has a backyard pool?

Angi did the calculating and determined which states have the most pools. They ranked the states strictly on the # of residential pools there are within the state, therefore larger more-populated states have a distinct advantage. With all of this in mind I'm pretty surprised that Massachusetts makes the Top 10. We're not the largest... and we're lucky to have plenty of coastline and beaches, but we still made the list!!

So don those floaties and let's look at the 10 states that have the most backyard pools and see how we stack up! I'll also give you the # of residents per pool for each state to give a little perspective when taking populations into account.

And if beaches are more you're thing, did you know that Massachusetts a beach that was named one of the best NUDE beaches in the entire country? Check that out here.
