Bobservation, Has Halloween Become Too Harrowing?
Times are scary enough!
Do we really need to amp up the horror in Halloween? Are costumes and Haunted houses going too far? Has Halloween become too harroweing? For me, yes. Gone are the days of cut out sheets and little things that go bump in the night.
Dang, now it seems as though you have to literally scared the, but Jesus out of people of all ages to get your jollies.
Houses of horror!
At Gory haunted houses you are asked to sign a waiver, stating that you are responsible for your own health. Good grief, you would think this was just a gimmick but sadly it’s not people can be so scared that they might do something drastic to get out of the house I could result in an injury. Let alone something that could lead to a heart condition for the weary.
It’s not your grandmother’s Halloween
Remember those cute decorations that you would see on houses back in the day? Cute little cut out, black cats and little ghosties on the windows. Well, those days are gone, it’s much more common to see 15 foot skeletons with fiery eyes on the front lines than it is to see a harmless Casper the ghost.
Why so terrifying?
Is it because of the gruesome trend in Hollywood scary movies? That probably dates back to the exorcist in 1973 and really hit its peak by 1978 with Halloween featuring Jamie Lee Curtis. That was the movie that started the Halloween slasher trend that has continued to this day. And like anything else, things could only get amped up. There are movies now featuring characters like Terrifier featuring Art The Clown that are literally terrifying.
Art The Clown prowls the streets of Salem, MA
Recently in Salem, Massachusetts has been stocked by somebody who portrays the character art the clown from the movie Terrifier. To say that he goes to far is quite an understatement. You can pose for pictures with him, holding the torso of a shredded victim while he smiles with blood, running down his cheek.
what’s amazing is the amount of people who want to pay to take pictures with him. An age does not seem to be a concern because children of all ages have posed with him and his gruesome torso.
Too much gore to ignore
I can’t help but wonder if this is acceptable now, what can we expect in the future I for one would prefer to roll back time to win the scariest thing you would see would be an old witch, with lots of warts on her chin and nose.
