4 Reasons Millennials Think They Are Better Parents Than Boomers
Millennials better parents than Boomers? Millennials think so!
In the latest “OK, boomer” smackdown, almost three out of four Millennial parents are giving themselves a pat on the back.
Yup, they think they’re doing a better job at parenting than their own folks did.
That’s a whopping 73%! And get this, 88% are waving the flag for their unique parenting style, according to a new study.
So Why are Millennials better parent than Boomers?
What’s the secret sauce?
Here’s the lowdown on the top four moves Millennial moms and dads are pulling that their own parents probably didn’t.
First up, they’ve got gentle parenting.
It’s all about guiding your little ones through life’s maze without laying down the law. Think of it as a “let’s figure this out together” vibe.
Then there’s where we’re getting their advice.
Sure, they might sneak a peek at social media for tips – about 24% of them, that is.
But the real MVPs are family, other parents, pals, and good old parenting books.
Now, let’s talk feelings.
Back in the day, it was all “toughen up, buttercup.”
But not anymore.
Millennials are all about airing out those mental health discussions.
A whopping 98% of them are ready to have that heart-to-heart with their kiddos.
And finally, being present.
No more working ’round the clock while the kids get stuck in Fortnite.
Around 80% of Millennials are putting their little ones before their work.
Plus, 77% think they’re more tuned in to their kids than their parents were.
But here’s the kicker: a third of them are dealing with some serious side-eye from the grandparents about those very modern methods.
Yet, let’s face it, parenting today is like trying tow wrangle feral cats.
It’s exhausting.
Nearly half of Millennials are feeling the burnout blues.
So, whether you’re in the gentle parenting camp or you’re all about tough love, we can all agree on one thing: being a parent in this day and age? It’s hard on everyone.
