Cindy Crawford Didn’t Like The Way Oprah Treated Her Back in ’86

Cindy Crawford

Supermodel and actress Cindy Crawford is mostly known for her editorial work throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, and recently walked the runway in 2017 during an homage to the late Gianni Versace. Her daughter Kaia Gerber has followed in her footsteps, and has signed with IMG as a model. She has walked for fashion lines such as Alexander Wang, Burberry, Chanel, and Marc Jacobs, and modeled for Vogue magazine.

30 years later and it still stings

Cindy Crawford didn't like the way Oprah treated her back in '86 and she has never forgotten it. You would think that by now she would have forgotten or forgiven but it sure doesn't look that way.

She was BRAND NEW and 19 years old when she appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 1986. And looking back on it now, she doesn't like the way Oprah treated her.

After commenting on her body, Oprah made Cindy stand up and show it off to the audience.

Treated like chattel?

On that new Apple TV+ series "The Super Models", Cindy says, quote, "I was  like the chattel or a child, like be seen and not heard.
"When you look at it through today's eyes, when Oprah's like, 'Stand up and  show me your body,' like show us why you're worthy of being here."
She added, quote, "In the moment I didn't recognize it. Only when I look back at it and I was like, 'Oh my gosh, that was so not OK really.' Especially from
Oprah!"

Calling out Oprah

It would seem like a dangerous thing to call out Oprah. She is so powerful in the industry that you should think twice about calling her out in public. It is not the first time people that had been on her show say they felt exploited. There have been dozens of guests saying just that over Oprah's almost three decades of doing her show. Those people were mostly not celebrity types, but just regular people that went on the show to discuss whatever was going on that made them interesting enough to be on the show. It is the very rare celebrity to call her out on being exploited. When someone with the caliber of Cindy Crawford says she didn't like the way Oprah treated her back in '86, it makes the news.
