What? NO! America’s Loneliest City is NOT Boston. But, it IS HIGH UP on the list.
With EVERYTHING our city provides, HOW can it be one of the loneliest?
Well, let’s take a look at a recent Census Bureau study. It has to do with the amount of SINGLE people, living alone. Ah, now it’s beginning to make sense.
According to the study:
Our analysis looked at the number of one-person households in each city as well as the number of males and females living in one-person households,” researchers said, according to Boston 25 News. “To determine the average yearly increase, we analyzed 2016-2021 one-person household data.
Boston ranked ______with 104,215, or 38.3%, residents living alone. Broken down by gender and Boston is 11th in the nation for the largest percentage of single-person female householders at 23.1%. Only 15.3% of men in Boston are single householders.
Well, at least we DID NOT make the top 10. With ALL of the single men and women, does that make the pool of dating eligibility higher? I mean, if you take an evening Summer stroll down Newbury on a Friday night, NO one looks sad or lonely to me. Of course, EVERYONE looks to me to be an expert on Back Bay dating life.
But, with that said, I defer to the Census Bureau to find America’s Loneliest City.
