Is This The Best Italian Restaurant In The North End? Most Say Si’
It’s National Spaghetti Day!
Who doesn’t want to celebrate the day with a nice big bowl of their favorite pasta? Whether you prefer yours with a side of meatballs on top on, bolognaise style or with nothing at all but some olive oil and parmesan cheese, Americans love their spaghetti.
Us Bostonians are arguably the biggest fans of it. Going all the way back to the old Prince Spaghetti days with Anthony Martinetti running through the North End on his way home to get his supper of a big bowl of mom’s spaghetti.
Go North!
The North End in Boston is world famous for it’s abundance of Italian restaurants, there are easily over 100 of them in the old neighborhood. You can walk down Hanover St and take your pick of every kind of restaurant from casual to fine dining to cafe’s and pizza shops. The streets are filled with both tourists and long time residents and you feel the vibrancy of the charming hustle and bustle of the busiest part of town.
You will be better off making a reservation rather than wait for a table, unless you don’t mind a wait of course.
The question is, which restaurant do you want to go to? There are dozens of surveys held each year that list the best Italian restaurants in Boston, but there is one that continues to always be mentioned in the top 10 or more. That restaurant is Mamma Maria
I took a look at bunch of recent surveys that have been conducted the past few years and in just about all of them, Mamma Maria scores high. Here’s what people say about it and why you should make your reservations soon.
Survey says!
Time out says…Mamma Maria is a unique restaurant in Boston because it doesn’t feel like it belongs in Boston at all. When you walk into Mamma Maria you get a tingling sensation that you have mistakenly entered someone’s luxuriously historic home—and funny enough this is the exact feeling that I get every time I arrive at a restaurant of similar size in Mayfair in London, perhaps that is why I love Mamma Maria so much. Mamma Maria is one of Boston’s truly fine dining establishments and you will realize why they are a notch above the rest as soon as you take your first bite. Everything is made from scratch and the menu changes with the seasons as it should.
So, there you have it. If you want to celebrate National Spaghetti Day you are probably too late to make reservations for today, but you should make one for a date soon Enjoy!
