Sure there are plenty of fish in the sea but catching the right one is a real challenge. How many times have you been told by a friend in the so-called dating pool that they have Like like their profile pic? We don’t understand why somebody would misrepresent themselves in such a way. After all isn’t the idea to meet and have a date. What’s the point of not being your true self?
Dating today is also difficult. Because of you can be extremely picky now And just keep swiping until you find someone you want to date all the while knowing that if it doesn’t work out, just open the app again and try again.
80’s Dating was different
In the 1980’s there were dating companies that would specialize in matching people from their “inventory” or “client list”. There so called scientific methods of matching were supposed to be foolproof. They would interview you and try to access your likes and dislikes, what you were looking for in a mate. They would also try to determine the type of person that was good for you based on your education, profession age and financial station in life.
The camera would roll
There was no internet in the 80’s, if you wanted to work with a dating company you would pay to have a video of yourself where an interviewer would talk to you and ask questions about what you were looking for in a partner. You would talk about yourself, your likes and dislikes, your profession and your hobbies. Of course you would have to describe your “perfect date”. Typically this was a nice dinner followed by a walk on the beach. That is if you were close to a beach.
