2 $50,000 Powerball Winners in Massachusetts, Jackpot Surges to $1.4 Billion

There was no Powerball jackpot winner last night so the pot is now going to be $1.4 BILLION for Saturday night’s drawing. But all hope is not lost if you bought a ticket in Massachusetts. There were thousands of winners here. The winners were not of the big prize. They weren’t of a million dollar prize either. However, do not throw your ticket away. There were 69 people who won prizes of $100 by matching 4 numbers and there were 172 $100 winners by matching 3 numbers AND the Powerball number.  The winning numbers were: 9, 35, 54, 63, 64 and red Powerball 1.  Saturday’s jackpot will be the THIRD largest in lottery history. Oh, and there were also 2 winners of $50,000 in Massachusets. One was sold in N Attleboro - Pick & Pay and the other at Fall River - South End Liquors.

So what is the next drawing looking like? According to a press release from Powerball: It’s the THIRD largest in the American lottery game’s history.  There has been no grand prize winner since July 19, when a single ticket sold in California won a jackpot worth $1.08 billion.  That amount of money is nothing to sneeze at. If someone wins Saturday’s jackpot, they’ll have a cash pay out of $643.7 million.  The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.  Most people choose the lump sum payout to ensure they get all of their money while they’re still here. Smart move.
