ZUMIX is a local non profit that gives young people room to experiment with and express their creativity. They have their own radio station, music lessons, a stage on which to perform at their East Boston location and numerous other art based activities.

I attended a fundraising event for ZUMIX last year and met some of the recipients of this wonderful community outreach. The creative arts, music, dance, writing, visual art, are so important in human development (read more HERE).

Four days ago, ZUMIX was asked to join Roger Waters on stage at TD Bank Garden to perform “Another Brick In The Wall Part II” from Pink Floyd‘s “The Wall”. Twelve of our youth participants ages 8-15 very quickly learned the song and choreography and jumped onstage in front of a sold out 12,000 person arena. Roger and his team couldn’t have been kinder and treated our youth like absolute professionals. It was a great experience all-around. ZUMIX is so grateful to have opportunities like this to be able to show the power of youth and to make their voice heard.

What a thrill it must have been for some of the ZUMIX kids to perform on stage with Roger Waters this week. Way. to. go!
