Bruins’ right winger David Pastrnak is one of the best goal scorers in the NHL and he’s only 21-years-old. He really grew up last night, scoring a goal, then earning an assist and in between, the first fight of his career. He took exception to a big hit on Patrice Bergeron.
Dan Gerardi hit Bergy with a clean, but heavy hit at center ice and Pastrnak objected and dropped the gloves. The combo of a goal, assist and a fight is referred to as a Gordie Howe Hat Trick, in honor of the late, great Red Wing star, who was equally proficient in scoring, passing and fighting.
Pastrnak’s heroics led the Bruins to a 4-2 win over Tampa Bay last night at the TD Garden and boosted them into first place in the Atlantic Division. Bergeron finished with a goal and an assist and Brad Marchand finished with two assists.
