The folks at TV Insider  have compiled a list of the worst endings to shows ever and they did a really good job with it but I do think they could have done better because the biggest most hyped show finale ever was Seinfeld and for most people it was a huge let down.

Gilligan’s Island

The castaways had to wait over 15 years to get rescued from the tiny island in a very kooky 1978 made for tv special that had the dreaded 7 use their huts as lifeboats/rafts to survive a tsunami only to have Gilligan start a fire that is spotted by the Coast Guard. One wonders what took them so long to come up with the idea to do get off the island using their ingenuity to build a big enough raft for all of them?

There’s something very satisfying about a good ending to a show that you have watched for long time.

You invest so much quality couch time in a show and then the ending is not exactly what you had hoped for. One of the worst for me was Shameless, the HBO show that was on for ten years and got progressively worse for wear over the last few years only to limp to the finish with a very lame finale that it was clear to anyone that the writers and producers had no clue how to wrap it up, so they sent Frank Gallagher to float above the family on his way to heaven? Not good.

Here are the seven shows and series that the experts at TV Insider think are some of the worst ever. I have included what I think is one of the best tv show endings of all time as well.

  • 7. "Lost", 2004 - 2010

Some folks were glad to have answer it left most feeling a little scammed!

  • 6. "Dexter", 2006 - 2013

Some critics said it was the ending we deserved.

  • 5. "Quantum Leap", 1989 - 1993

This show is back again, let’s hope it’s too big a leap to get it right this time around!

  • 4. "How I Met Your Mother", 2005 - 2014

    Never watched this one

  • 3. "Star Trek: Enterprise", 2001 - 2005

Trekkers are very hard to satisfy

  • 2. "Gossip Girl", 2007 - 2012

People were gossiping about the bad ending for weeks!

  • 1. "Game of Thrones", 2011 - 2019

After watching the entire series from start to finish, most of the millions of viewers agreed this ending was lacking and not at all satisfying, the good news is the show is back as a prequel called House of Dragons, so they have a chance to do it better next time.

  • The Best Sitcom Ending Ever! Newhart!

Enough of al those bad endings let’s celebrate what I feel is the best ending to a tv show/sitcom ever in 1990, Newhart. If you never watched the show it worth your time. It was a quintessential 80’s sitcom with fun, friendly and wacky characters surrounding the great Bob Newhart as a Vermont innkeeper. I won’t give away the awesome ending incase you have never seen the show, but it was excellent, especially if you’re a fan of the Bob Newhart show.
