ER Doctor Self-Isolates In His Kids’ Treehouse
In an effort to protect their families while out on the front lines battling the coronavirus, many health care workers have chosen to self-isolate.
For Dr. Jason Barnes, he’s riding out the pandemic from the comfort of his backyard in Texas.
The Corpus Christi ER doc has called his kids’ treehouse home for the last three weeks, shouting down any requests to his wife and two sons below.
“The main reason I’m isolating from my family because I’ve been treating patients with the virus,” Barnes told the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. “My wife and kids often get sick with things I bring home from the hospital, and many times in the emergency department, we get caught off guard with patients.”
Fortunately, the children are taking this all in stride, with Barnes admitting, “They love that thing, but they understand, so they’re not missing the treehouse, per se.”
Barnes tells the newspaper he’s got some creature comforts, the WiFi from his house reaches out to it, and he picked up a camping toilet, and his oldest son set up a garden hose for the doctor to wash up with.
