I have a lot of books. And my husband, Dave, has a lot of books. We used to have built-in bookshelves, but you tend to lose them when you tear down the wall they’re attached to. So our books have been in the attic, in sad, heavy boxes. During the most recent storm, we went through them and donated lots. But we have SO MANY LEFT.
I like books and I love going to someone’s house and seeing their taste in authors. I once cat-sat for a lovely woman who was REALLY into both self-help and serial killers. (A story for another time, people.)
But! Books tend to look messy to me. I know. It’s weird. But clutter makes me a little nuts. And my living room is beige and grey and a bunch of Stephen King books screaming at you from across the room is just, well, you know, unnerving to some.
So I thought I would try the most divisive trend in home decor since macrame planters – backward books.
It’s crazy. It’s impractical. Only a MONSTER would display books like this.
Yet, I like the look! AND no one will see I bought and read Fifty Shades of Grey!
