Sales of ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ Up 160 Percent On Eclipse Day

This week’s solar eclipse was good for Pink Floyd‘s The Dark Side of the Moon.
Sales for the group’s classic 1973 album were up more than 160 percent from the previous day on Monday (August 21), moving just over 1,000 copies according to Nielsen Music; Dark Side typically sells around 200 copies on a typical day.
The album also spent much of Monday at No. 1 on iTunes’ album chart.
Pink Floyd’s greatest eclipse competition was Bonnie Tyler‘s 1983 hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” whose sales on Monday were up more than 390 percent from Sunday.
