It seems like this year, the KIDS Halloween costume ideas are over the top! Add to that, our neighbors are taking it to the next level for outdoor decorations. Each year, new levels of imagination take flight. We see more and more creativity flow out, beating out the year before.

Halloween By The Numbers

According to the National Retail Foundation:

Across the US, the National Retail Foundation (NRF) expects 2023's Halloween spending to hit a record $12.2bn, exceeding last year's record of $10.6bn.

EXCEEDING last year! I thought people were suffering from too much inflation!

Top KIDS Halloween Costume Ideas

According to Fox News:

Most people still get their costume ideas from the internet, but about a quarter of people surveyed said they’ll look for costumes at retail stores. Another 19% said they get inspiration from their family and friends.

For kids, it seems like the list is the same: The TOP costumes for kids are princess, witch, ghost, Superhero, pumpkin, zombie, vampire and pirate. The survey says SPIDERMAN will be the #1 costume with 2.2 million kids dressing as the web throwing hero. (Tell me as a kid you didn't try that with Silly String? I believe they make a toy using that concept.)

We love to dress our pets too! Spending this year may hit $710 MILLION for our fur babies. But don't share that stat with your cat, as they will ask for a nicer tree.

Are YOU An Over The TOP Parent?

Well I guess it's all relative. When you see the AMAZING costumes below, you have to wonder how the parent finds the time to create these amazing costumes in a world where two parents are working full-time. But to each their own. I'm not judging. When I was growing up, Mom and Dad sent older brother Rich on patrol with little Jay.

So let's take a look at some costume ideas that you may agree, are OVER THE TOP!

Ok They Win

Do we really need to look ahead? Wow! Needless to say, this is the competition in LOS ANGELES.

I Am Actually Scared

The caption should read: "Is this worth a stupid bag of candy?"

Ok, Another Rock Star Family

Say "hi" to the Shrek family! Again, almost as good as the real thing, even though Shrek isn't real.

What IS THIS?

The kid that did this is probably headed to Hollywood as the next special effects superstar. You can't even see the spring that's holding up the head until you get close up. (I don't think I have ever written that sentence in my life.)

What Is That Kid Holding?

You had me until the KNIFE. Please tell me it's a prop?

Is This Brilliant?

Or should we call the authorities? The manhole cover from the movie "IT" is OVER THE TOP!

NOT KIDS

Of course these two are not kids costumes, but deserve a share. Cat and cat tree.

Homerun, and Easy

This one seems easier! Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Baby Woodstock! IT's THE GREAT PUMPKIN!
