Is Massachusetts the MOST giving state? When it comes to charity, what state gives the most? Our state has a reputation at being number at many things. Medicine comes to mind. Massachusetts, according to experts is number ONE for receiving money for medical research. But, do we GIVE back?

Robert Kraft

Massachusetts  can boast to have one of America’s biggest philanthropists, Patriots owner and local businessman Robert Kraft. According to his website The Kraft Group:

Today, with more than $400 million in donations from the Kraft family and their foundations, the power of philanthropy has been felt by youth and families around the world by assisting programs that foster cultural diversity, education, family and health.

Elton John

Elton’s connection to Massachusetts is his pal Robert Kraft. Like, Kraft, pop icon Elton John is known in the U.K. as NUMBER ONE for giving back.

According to charitynavigator.com:

Since its founding, The Elton John Aids Foundation has raised over $150 million to support urgently needed programs across the US and in 55 countries around the globe. Direct services include HIV/AIDS-related medical and mental health treatment, testing and counseling, food distribution, assisted living, social service coordination, and legal aid.

Wallet Hub Study

According to a new Wallethub study:

Nearly 61 million people volunteer in the U.S., serving a combined total of 4.1 billion hours per year, the equivalent of $122.9 billion of service. In the spirit of inspiring altruism, WalletHub determined the most charitable of the 50 states by comparing them across 19 key indicators of charitable behavior. Our data set ranges from the volunteer rate to the share of income donated to the share of sheltered homeless.
