Blockbuster movie trailers for 2024 debuted last night during the Super Bowl. And we are psyched to sit in a movie theater this year.

What is it about movie trailers, anyway? Those snippets of cinematic magic have the power to send shivers down our spines and make us count down the days until we can see the full feature.  I mean, I spend an UNFORTUNATE amount of time on movie trailers at apple.com

Remember when “The Dark Knight” trailer dropped? Heath Ledger captured the nation.

Or “Air”?

That’s the power of a great trailer –like buttered popcorn, it leaves us hungry for more.

But it’s not just about the hype. Think about the promise of an epic adventure. Remember “Jurassic Park” or “Avatar”? Those trailers didn’t just tease us – they transported us to other worlds, filling us with wonder and excitement.

And let’s not forget about the music. A killer soundtrack can elevate a trailer from good to legendary. Think “Inception”. Also, this “Amerian Hustle” trailer’s soundtrack was epic:

But why do we go wild for blockbusters in particular?

Simple – because they’re big, bold and, well, BLOCKBUSTER-Y.

Whether it’s superheroes saving the world or zombies eating faces, blockbusters promise an escape from reality like no other.

And let’s be real – we love a good spectacle. There’s something thrilling about seeing jaw-dropping special effects and larger-than-life action sequences unfold on the big screen.

I love a good disaster movie. Actually, I love a bad disaster movie. Who doesn’t?

Anyway, there’s nothing quite like sitting in a packed theater, surrounded by fellow movie nerds, all sharing in the same excitement and anticipation.

So the next time you find yourself getting hyped up over a movie trailer, just remember – you’re not alone. We’re all in this together, eagerly counting down the days until we can sit in a dark theater and transport ourselves into another world.

Here are three 2024 blockbuster movie trailers that debuted last night that we can’t wait to see in theaters:

  • 1. Deadpool & Wolverine

OK, this is a no brainer. This is Marvel Mashup Made in HEAVEN. The two best characters featured in a summer blockbuster. Also, Ryan Reynolds’ snark, paired with Hugh Jackman’s seriousness creates the power couple you never knew you needed. Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 26, 2024.

  • 2. Twisters

God I LOVE a disaster movie. I prefer the ones that are very unlikely to happen: think The Day After Tomorrow, not something like The Impossible, which was based on a true story and was one of the most terrifying disaster movies in recent memory. I liked the original Twister with Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton (not to be confused with Bill Pullman, which is what pretty much everyone does.) This version stars “Top Gun: Maverick’s” Glen Powell and “Normal People’s” Daisy Edgar-Jones. It is scheduled to be released worldwide July 19, 2024

  • 3. Wicked

Any musical theater buff knows the entire soundtrack to this musical, which debuted on Broadway in TK, starring Kristen Chenowith and Idina Menzel as Glinda and Elphaba. It’s based on the book “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire, who tells the story of the Wizard of Oz from The Wicked Witch’s perspective. The movie, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, looks like it’s going to defy gravity. It flies into theaters on November 27, 2024. A sequel, Wicked: Part Two, will be released in 2025.
