If you love lobster rolls and can't get enough of them, then it's time to head to North Andover's Joe Fish and order the biggest lobster roll ever, The Big Kahuna. It features one pound of lobster meat and comes with fries and coleslaw.

The big catch on the Big Kahuna is that it will set you back $80 bucks, which is more than double what you would expect to pay at most seafood restaurants. Now, you have to understand that 16 ounces of pure lobster meat on a roll is almost twice what you normally get on one.

If you buy a pound of lobster meat at a market, you can expect to pay upwards of $50 to $60, so getting that much on a sandwich with fries and coleslaw is still a good deal.

For me, in the summer my wife and I usually enjoy about 4-6 lobster rolls at various places in the New England area, but the most we spend is between $25 and $28. That is usually the going rate at a typical seafood shack kind of place where the food comes on paper plates and the coleslaw is served in little plastic containers and comes with more fries than one person should finish.

Is the Big Kahuna worth it?

To pay $80 for a lobster roll we would expect some fine dining experience and served on a plate not made of paper or plastic. That's what you get at Joe Fish, a nice restaurant setting that offers much more than just the Big Kahuna, the biggest lobster roll ever.

Folks are torn about the price for it, saying things like "you would have to be insane to spend that much on a lobster roll!" or "heck yes, it's huge and worth the price".

The only way to find out is to go and find out for ourselves, so I will make my way to Joe Fish in North Andover and check it out for myself. If I do, I will promise to videotape and take lots of pics.
