The jury in the Depp vs. Heard case awarded actor Johnny Depp $15 million in his defamation case against Heard. Actor Johnny Depp takes a break during his trial at a Fairfax County Courthouse on May 27, 2022 in Fairfax, Virginia.

Johnny Depp  won his defamation case against Amber Heard, who was countersuing him in Virginia today, June 1. Depp was awarded $15 million in damages, while Heard was awarded $2 million.

Depp sued Heard for defamation for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in which she described herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” Though Depp was not named in the article, he claims it cost him lucrative acting roles. Heard countersued for $100 million, over statements Depp’s attorney made about her abuse claims.

The defamation trial has been underway since April and jurors have heard over 100 hours of testimony altogether.
