Wicked Holiday Guide

It’s time to switch from your fall flavored coffee to your holiday-themed lattes… but which one should you try?!

Well, let’s be real, they are all delicious… but they aren’t exactly healthy. According to HuffPost, nutritionists weighed in on which Starbucks holiday drinks are better than the others, due to less calories and sugar. See their grading on each product below!

  • Iced Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Latte: B+

This drink is new to the holiday menu this year. While it already seems to quickly be becoming a fan favorite, it’s also the healthiest option of them all with 150 calories, 3.5 grams of total fat, 0 grams of saturated fat and 25 grams of added sugar. Not too bad!

  • Gingerbread Latte: B-

The Starbucks version of this latte has 38 grams of sugar, but other coffee places might do a slightly healthier version.

  • Chai Latte: B-

Starbucks uses a chai syrup that’s loaded with 42 grams of sugar, but there are many other coffee shops that use chai tea concentrate, which would make this a much healthier option.

  • Peppermint Mocha: C-

A grande at Starbucks has 54 grams of sugar, hence the C-. However, if you go somewhere that uses real peppermint instead of peppermint-flavored syrup, it might a little more on the healthier side.

  • Eggnog Latte: C-

The Starbucks version has 52 grams of sugar and more saturated fat than anything else on the list. BUT – it does have 17 grams of protein, so there’s some nutritional benefit in there.

Pssst… the Eggnog Latte was actually taken off the holiday menu at Starbucks this year. BUT – you can still order it off the secret menu! Find out how here.

  • Chestnut Praline Latte: D

Sure, it has 39 grams of sugar, which is less than some of the ones mentioned above. But, other than the protein from the milk, there’s nothing healthy about this one.

  • Salted Caramel Latte: F

Welp… this has to be the worst one. A whopping 470 calories with 59 grams of sugar… which is more than twice the added sugar you’re supposed to have in an entire day.
