The travel website, journeyera.com, analyzed the popularity of cities based on the number of hashtags they receive. And yes, Boston was named one of the 10 most popular Instagram cities in America!

As explained on journeyera.com, "The relevant hashtag count for each city is determined by tallying the number of times the specific city name is used as a hashtag in posts on Instagram." When you hastag, you are basically categorizing your content. The graph from journeyera.com that you will see below shows numbers that represent the total count of relevant hashtags from each city at a specific time. "These counts offer a snapshot of the popularity of each city on Instagram at that particular moment," explained the travel site.

Where did Boston land in the top most Instagrammable cities? You are about to find out. The Yankees had almost as bad a year as the Red Sox, so props to the Big Apple in this evaluation. And that didn't even feel awkward to write. New York City leads the pack with a whopping, 301 million tags.

The popularity of NYC worldwide is no waning. It's the first place most visitors from other countries want to see. It's legendary status in movies, TV shows, books and plays remains strong. Congrats New York, New York, the most popular Instagram city in the good old U.S.A.

Although Boston wasn't even a close second to New York, neither was any other city. In fact the #2 city's count on this report was not even half of what NY earned for hastags. LA, the land of the stars came in at just over 138,000. Boston ranks 19th overall in this graph, with an over 25,000 relevant hastag count. Still, we are top 10 baby!
