The Beatles’ animated film Yellow Submarine was released in theaters 50 years ago, and in addition to the film heading back to select theaters for limited screenings earlier this month, The Beatles’ YouTube page honored the anniversary by releasing some new videos about the film.

Enjoy those videos below!

An Introduction

Interviews from 1999 show Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr and animator Heinz Edelmann talking about the elements that went into Yellow Submarine.

The Design

This clip talks about how the film mixed animated and live-action into the film’s production and the silly adlib clip of The Beatles at the end of the film.

The Voices

This clip breaks down the infamous voice of Chief Blue Meanie (Paul Angelis), as well as the very Liverpudlian humor brought to the script via co-writer Roger McGough.
