Last weekend in Woodstock even the cows were delightfully stunned as Creed's Scott Stapp ROCKED Connecticut!

Each Labor Day weekend, thousands migrate South to the annual Woodstock Fair in Woodstock Connecticut. It's a small town version of the Big E. Make no mistake, it's BIG. From the ferris wheel to the GIANT donuts, it's one of the best fall fairs around.  One of the highlights each year, is the concert performers.

The Concerts

The Woodstock Fair prides itself each year by getting BIG name acts for it's mainstage. In past years, we saw Tony Orlando, Survivor, 38 Special, and Belinda Carlisle, to name a few. While they are all fantastic, this year, they took the volume up a notch.

Creed's Scott Stapp ROCKED Connecticut!

When I read that former lead singer of Creed, Scott Stapp was the headliner, my head went right to his big 1990's hit Higher. I said to myself, "self, I would like to see that LIVE." Of ALL of the people I have seen in concert, I have never seen Scott Stapp. What came after that was unexpected.

Scott Owned The Stage

Stapp, at the age of 50, sounded, and owned the stage like he was 30. Even though TWENTY SIX years had gone by, time stood still, for his voice had NOT aged. It maybe even better. The event was packed with old and new fans. The grunge rockers of the 90's were now mom's and dad's with mini-vans, who shared their first Creed cd with the kids. It seems like Stapp connected with each one of us, reminding us that the young person we all knew is still in us.

Spirit Was Present

Stapp took several opportunities to share his love with his faith, and how it got him through his dark times. He shares the story behind his first big hit, My Own Prison. It's the story of how he finally took responsibility for his own actions. In his memoir, Stapp writes that his Christian upbringing influenced that song due to the guilt that he felt not measuring up to the God presented to him by his father.

Higher

You didn't have to know every Creed song, to appreciate this rock icon on stage. His instrument was his voice, and his unreal, cool, rock star stage presence made him connect ONE on ONE with everyone. But then, if possible, it got better. The audience EPUPTED when he went into one of Creed's biggest hits, Higher. Peaking at #7 on the charts, it stayed there for 57 weeks! Never in a million years, did I think I would get to see this song performed LIVE at a country fair. On on top of Scott's perfect performance, I have to mention how great the band was! This show was stadium quality, but the smaller venue made it intimate, and special. I felt like Stapp, was singing personally, for me.

Even though twenty six years have gone by, somehow, Scott Stapp has made time stand still, in a good way.  The outside world is going through an overhaul. Scott reminded us that we are all connected as one, to the biggest, best world, the world inside of all of us, where each day, we CAN GO Higher, if we believe. I'm ready.
