Who comes to mind when you see Massachusetts BIGGEST Rivalries? As we see the Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg reported cage match play out, I got to thinking, who do WE want to see jump in the cage for the all time victory of superiority?

Growing up in Massachusetts, we are no strangers to some of the worlds most famous rivalries. What comes to mind? Of course, the Red Sox and Yankees, maybe the MOST famous sports rivalry all all time. This rivalry is so well known, there have been Dunkin’s commercials made, mocking the battles. Speaking of Dunkin’s, what about  the rivalry with Starbucks?

In every aspect of our lives, each choice is like a mini-rivalry. From food shopping, to entertainment, to health care, to home goods, to child care, to car care, to self care, to vacationing, and sometimes even relationships, we have an A and a B. Sometimes, we even have a C.

We have our go-to favs, and then our second choice, and third choice. But once our comfort zone becomes too comfortable, we move out of it to try a little dis-comfort to spark things up. What drives our choices? Popularity? Do we follow the herd, with word of mouth, or do we do our own research and testing? For example, if we grew up in New York, but moved to Boston, could we be swayed to become a Red Sox fan?

So, indulge me if you will and join me on a journey to see Massachusetts BIGGEST Rivalries. See you if you agree, with a couple of new one’s thrown in!

You can hear Jaybeau Jones each weekday afternoon from 2pm to 7pm on 1057 WROR 80’s and more variety!

  • Dunkin's Vs Starbucks

For me, it’s always Dunks! But if you offer to buy me a Starbucks Caramel Macchiato, I won’t deny you.

  • Red Sox Vs Yankees

Like Vadar, they must be stopped.

  • WROR's Morning Team Bob and LBF

    Bob and LBF

While, they are not rivals, their morning show can be like a cage match. They are unique to each other. If I was in a STREET FIGHT, I’d want LBF on my team. If I was redoing my employment contract, or my home siding I’d want Bob as my agent, contractor.

  • Channel 4 Vs Channel 5

Now that WCVB’s Harvey Leonard weather icon has retired, maybe WBZ-TV CBS 4 has a shot of winning the 11pm ratings cage match. Co-Anchor David Wade is tough competitor. Has you ever seen that guy up close? He has 0% body fat. (Left to right, WROR’s Jaybeau-CBS-4’s David Wade)

  • Connecticut Lobster Roll Vs Maine Style Lobster Roll

Sorry Connecticut, for me the perfect lobster roll is Maine style. It’s served chilled, with mayo and big chunks of lobster, not with butter, warm and soggy bread. (If it was my last meal, maybe.)

  • Ruth Chris Steak House Vs Capitol Grill

GettyImages-594465522.jpegWhile this is more of a national rivalry, my choice of the perfect steak goes to Ruth Chris. Any steakhouse that finishes off a sizzling dry aged Porter House with a dollop of BUTTER as they serve it, get’s my vote. But with that said, Capital Grill comes in a close second.

  • Sports Hub VS?

Scott Zolak 2018.jpgMy apologies, but there is NO sports talk radio competition to 985 The Sports Hub.

The team down the hall knows their stuff, AND they are all good guys to boot. Hats off to Toucher and Rich, Zolack and Bertrand, and Felger and Mazz, and Big Jim.

  • Heidi Vs Jaybeau

When it comes to winning, no battle here, I won when I met her. But if I had to enter into a cage match with Heidi, she’d win. Or maybe she’d LET me win. One can hope.

  • Ryan Seacrest Vs?

I have never met Ryan, but I have friends that say he is a nice guy. He was just named the new host of “Wheel Of Fortune” adding to an LA morning radio job, American Idol, and exec producer at E Entertainment. I truly admire his drive and energy. But, I must ask, why doesn’t he want to go home?
