Last Saturday, a hit thrilled audience knew every song as John Fogerty STUNNED Connecticut.

The Hartford Health Care Amphitheater in Bridgeport came ALIVE with a true rock star.

But it was more than a concert. It was a celebration for the 78 year old Creedence Clear Water Revival front man.

Fogerty Wins Law Suit

John Fogerty STUNNED Connecticut in another way. Many did not know that for 50 years, he did not own his own music. For the first time in January 2023, Fogerty finally as he says “got his songs back.” It’s possible through the fine print of publication contracts, an iconic song writer can lose ownership. In other words, someone else can own your songs, prohibiting you from performing them. In some cases, you can perform them, but have to pay for it. It may sound ridiculous, but it’s very true.

According to insidehook.com, it took FIFTY years for John Fogerty to get his songs back:

Fogerty’s legal disputes actually began were Fantasy Records owner Saul Zaentz, who signed the band to the label in 1967 and locked them into a predatory deal that gave the label ownership of the distribution and publishing rights to all their music.

After all of that time, and years of legal battles, John won back the rights and ownership of his music this past January.

John Fogerty on Twitter: "As of this January, I own my own songs again. This is something I thought would never be a possibility. After 50 years, I am finally reunited with my songs. I also have a say in where and how my songs are used. Up until this year, that is something I have never been able to do. pic.twitter.com/UISPK8Pb4W / Twitter"

John Fogerty’s Wife, Family With Him On Tour

Throughout the night John credited his LIFE and success to his manager, Julie who is also his wife. Fogerty champions his loving wife for getting his songs back. To John, the theme of the night was family.

It was a wonderful, heartfelt moment to see John playing his songs on stage standing next to his two sons.

It’s hard to believe that Fogerty is 78 years old. His incredible energy and masterful guitar playing rivaled the energy of his two thirty something sons.

John Fogerty STUNNED Connecticut Fans Of All Ages

Why should we be stunned, you ask? After, singing, screaming, shouting and standing for over an hour, I had to sit down for a song or two. But not so for Fogerty. His youth seems addictive as the audience was compiled of fans of ALL ages. What we saw was not just 1960’s and 70’s music fans. The age span started at 25. Fogarty fans of all ages, came to escape 2023, for a simpler time.

Fogerty Set List

The show opened with a short, heartfelt one on one video of John sharing his happiness that he can play his songs again. It ended with him looking into the camera inviting everyone to stand up and rock, saying “Let’s Go!” At that moment, the famous guitar riff of “Bad Moon Rising” kicked in, with John hitting the stage in person. We were in awe. In front of us, a true rock legend, playing songs we know and love. From that point on the journey of hits began, with us not sitting down, once.

John Fogerty finally, got his songs back, and we were invited to a once in a lifetime celebration. He even toasted US, his fans with a bottle of champagne. We truly felt his happiness singing along with him, LIVE. But if possible, I think HE was happier, having us, with HIM.
