OAK BLUFFS, MA - AUGUST 11: A painting is seen during JawsFest: The Tribute, a festival celebrating the film Jaws, on the island of Martha’s Vineyard on August 11, 2012 in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts.

Discovery’s Shark Week just kicked off for it’s 34th year on Sunday, July 24th. One of the biggest changes in our area has been how much the identity of Cape Cod has become for the population of White Sharks! This year’s Shark Week has a show that focuses on the White Sharks down on The Cape.

  • "Monsters of the Cape"

The Discovery description of the show says: “Shark Week Veterans Dr. Craig O’Connell and Mark Rackley dive into the great white-infested waters off of Cape Cod looking to test cutting-edge shark deterrents to help keep the waters of the Cape safe for both beachgoers and sharks, before it’s too late.”

  • “Great White Intersection"

Shark Week will also feature a discovery+ exclusive that focuses on Cape Cod. “Great White Intersection,” which starts streaming on Saturday, focuses on the fatal shark attack of Arthur Medici, 26, a Revere surfer who in 2018 was killed by a great white off of Newcomb Hollow Beach in Wellfleet. It was Massachusetts’ first fatal shark bite in 82 years.

  • Discovery Shark Week 2022 Schedule

This year’s Shark Week is hosted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and has a bunch of new shows and special guests!

  • Great White Shark Named The Rock!

We are really lucky to have a great organization like the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy right in our backyard! Check out their locations on the Cape for some great information about white sharks.

  • Impractical Jokers On Shark Week!

Even the Impractical Jokers are getting in on the Shark Week fun, they will be hosting and have special guests.

  • Tracy Morgan Presents: Sharks! with Tracy Morgan

Not sure what Tracy Morgan has to say about sharks, but it will probably make you laugh!

  • Jackass Shark Week 2.0

Even after one of the Jackass cast was bitten last year, they are back for Shark Week 2022 with more of their foolishness!
