• Boston was struck by a bizarrely deadly disaster in 1919 - “The Great Molasses Flood.”

  On January 15, 1919 a tank containing 2.5 million gallons of molasses exploded, flooding the entire north end of the city. If you lick the streets there you can still taste a hint of molasses. (Just kidding – DON’T do that.)
