Billy Joel thrilled an audience of trucking industry leaders as the surprise entertainment at Daimler Truck North America’s 2022 Customer Appreciation Event. The singer-songwriter and performed a nearly two-hour set for an invitation-only audience of about 1,200 fleet executives and other guests at the harborside Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, a downtown outdoor venue.
My family is full of 18 wheeler truckers. It’s a much needed mode of transportation. We would not have everyday things like FOOD, clothes, and important household items WITHOUT the trucking industry. My brother Paul owns a truck transport business. Driving an 18 wheeler is not regular driving. They provide an important service. We owe truckers a debt of gratitude. Billy Joel understands this.

Billy has been known for keeping his front rows at his shows, open. He sends his crew to the BACK of the venue, and moves THOSE FANS to the front row. Those fans says Billy: “are much more excited to be there than the rich people who can afford them. Over the years, watching those rich people just sit there bored, bummed me out.” Somehow, Billy Joel’s MASSIVE success has not made him forget what’s important.
