Pride Month is upon us. Each year in June, the month is celebrated to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots. The riots was considered a catalyst for the gay rights movement in the United States, and around the world.
This year, the parade is back and organized by a new group called Boston Pride for the People. The other group, Boston Pride, was dissolved in 2021 after criticism over a lack of racial and transgender inclusion. The parade and festival are scheduled to return to the Boston Common and City Hall Plaza on June 10th, and other activities will take place on June 11th.
In addition to the activities organized by Boston Pride for the People, many other great activities are planned. There are: kick-off parties, Queeraoke, drag brunches, craft nights, and more.
The other great aspect of Pride Month is that it brings awareness and funds to some great organizations supporting LGBTQ+ people. Here are some of the fantastic events you can attend.
