Making funerals fun again
I attended my wife’s aunts wake this past week. It was a very nice affair, with all the usual things you would expect, an open casket with her aunt Kathy looking very nice and serene, almost as though she was simply taking a nice nap. There was a beautiful array of flowers and a tv screen that showed a nice collage of pictures of her and her family through the years. All was very classy and what you would expect a wake to be.
Nothing wrong with that, but there are people who have very unusual funerals and wakes. These people want to go out in style and have made sure that their “final wishes” are followed to a tee.
Have you thought about your funeral?
If you want to do something different with your wake or funeral now is the time to start getting your planning in order. It’s never too soon to start jotting down what you want yours to look like and what little things would you like.
Maybe you have songs that you want played at your funeral, if so you should thinking about your playlist set and write down the songs and the order you want them played. You can be the dj or the music coordinator for your final show.
What to wear?
If you are open to the idea of an open casket, you should start thinking about what you want to wear from here to eternity. For the ladies, is there a favorite dress or comfy sweater? For the men, do you really want to be buried in a suit and tie? Maybe you want to sport your favorites teams jersey? Perhaps you want to wear your favorite sweatshirt or a hoodie. How about a baseball cap with your hometown teams logo?
These are all sensible final wishes that would be very easy to adhere to, but there are famous people that chose very different ideas on what their funeral would be. We have compiled a list of 11 of the most unusual funerals from people with the fame and money to pull it off.
