Gone but not forgotten

We all know the symbolic golden arches, you remember that first bite into the Big Mac, how golden and crispy those fries are plus the best soft drinks in the world, so in honor of McDonald’s bringing back the Shamrock shake, let’s take a look back at some of the special menu items McDonalds has discontinued.

  • The McDLT aka. The McDeluxe

The Tomato and lettuce were the selling points of this menu item. This item was discontinued off the menus in 1998 because it’s Styrofoam packaging was particularly bad for the environment.

  • McPizza

Say what you will about this item, it was definitely worth the wait in my opinion, but sadly not everyone thought the same thing and waiting for an average of 16min was it’s downfall.

  • McSpaghetti

Introduced in the 70’s this was a staple menu item with it’s delicious marinara sauce grated parmesan cheese, and at one point offered meatballs. Legend say’s their is only one McDonalds that still serves it on it’s menu

  • Onion Nuggets

Introduced in 1975 as an option for vegetarians, sadly it didn’t stick as weeks later they rolled out the McNugget.

  • McFish Bites

This one didn’t last very long, it was released in 2013 and only four months after its launch it was discontinued due to lack of sales.

  • Arch Deluxe

One of McDonalds biggest flops of all time. This burger was geared towards a more adult crowd, but never stuck.

  • Chicken Fajita

This is the best burrito in the world, a campaign needs to start to bring these back ASAP.

  • Big N Tasty

This was McDonalds answer to rival with Burger King’s Whopper. The big selling point for the Big N Tasty was it’s new sauce. It only lasted for 11 years.

  • All Day Breakfast

This one didn’t have a long shelve life, it was taken off the menu after it was too much of a pain to serve it all day. So now it’s back to getting to McD’s before 10:30a

  • McSalad Shakers

Call it for what it’s worth but this salad was sneaky good, especially if you were on the go. The 3 salads they offer was Grilled Chicken Caesar, Chef, and Garden.

  • McLobster

Making it’s debut in 1993 the McLobster, but due to shipping supplies and it being unprofitable they dropped it from it’s menu. Only Canada and New England areas thrived but it was still dropped from the menu
