How I Make Ambrosia In Six Easy Steps – Julie Devereaux

I recently heard the Loren & Wally morning show kinda making fun of one of my favorite dishes, ambrosia. I remember having it at other people’s houses around the holidays…

THESE will soon be a light, scrumptious side dish or dessert. All you need is one cup of each of these ingredients.

I recently heard the Loren & Wally morning show kinda making fun of one of my favorite dishes, ambrosia.

I remember having it at other people's houses around the holidays when I was a kid and being the dessert lover I am, always wondered how it was made. It seemed complicated. It's one of those dishes we never had at my house so when I grew up, I sought out the recipe.

I hadn't made it in awhile and hadn't planned on making it but after hearing the morning crew talking about it (yea, I'm not too suggestible!), I decided to whip up a batch for Thanksgiving.

I've tried other ambrosia recipes but this one is my favorite and in no way complicated!

1 cup each:

mandarin oranges (drained), crushed pineapple (drained), flaked coconut, mini marshmallows and sour cream! Mix, chill, yum!

And please enjoy these songs by '70's southern California soft rock band Ambrosia while you peruse the pictures! :-)

These are SO delicious! Tiny, little mandarin oranges! (1 cup drained)

Add one cup of sweet, juicy, drained crushed pineapple! (I freeze the juice from this and the mandarin oranges for a future healthy, refreshing blender drink!)

One cup of coconut. I like the unsweetened flakes.

A cup of sour cream. I suppose you could use light but why would ya do that?!

Finally, mix in one cup of mini marshmallows and chill! I bet the multicolored marshmallows would be pretty. (sorry about the blurry pic...I must have been too close to the bowl!)

Voila! Ambrosia!
