Because I am too cheap to go out and buy a new shelf, I decided to paint one I already had.
It's an exact fit for where I want it to go and the thought of going from store to store to store to: A. find something I actually like and B. find something that fits, lost out over spending a portion of my weekend sprucing up what I had!
Of course, not always one to think ahead before jumping in head first, there was a slight issue.
Primer? Ever hear of primer Julie? Apparently not.

The shelf (shelve?). Needs a paint job, right? It's also a legit antique (and it shows! ha!).

I blocked my cat (Batman) from coming in the room because he just loves to rub on everything and I didn't want red paint on him and everything else.

DOH! Yep. I stepped on the paint stick and tracked it on the floor. (Those are my painting slippers...I have a whole painting ensemble BECAUSE I MAKE A MESS!)

As you can see, it'll be needing a second coat. The shelves, now a lovely shade of purple, not exactly what I was going for. I bet if I'd used some PRIMER that could have been avoided!

After two coats, a deepish red? I wonder if it needs a third coat. Ugh! Stay tuned.
