Twelve-year-old Carly Silva should be preparing for school vacation and spending Christmas with her family. Instead, she’s at Children’s Hospital battling lymphoma, a blood cancer.
Carly plays hockey in her family’s hometown of Weymouth and her two older sisters, Riley and Mackenzie, play on the Weymouth High Girls team. The hockey community throughout Massachusetts has stepped up to send Carly “get well” and Christmas cards and now a Go Fund Me page has been established to help her family with her medical expenses. Hank spoke with Weymouth High Girls Coach, Dan McGlone, about the outpouring of support, the life lessons learned and the giving spirit of strangers during the holiday season.
