Massachusetts' housing market is showing signs of a spring pickup in new listings in March, according to the Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR).
According to an Axios Boston report, homebuyers listed 4,255 single-family homes and 2,681 condos in March, per the MAR.
"A lot of people are tired of waiting," said Kristen Keegan, MAR's president, in a statement shared with Axios Boston. "While they're waiting for interest rates to come down, the property values keep increasing. So, it's a catch-22 there."
Despite the increase in listings, overall market activity remains restrained as high interest rates and higher costs keep buyers cautious. In addition, the total number of houses on the market remains lower than in 2025. Closings also continue to decline. Only 2,179 single-family homes sold (down 2.2%) and 1,189 condos sold (down 1.3%).
According to the MAR, the median sale price for single-family homes rose to $655,000 in March. That's up more than 4% year over year. Alternatively, the median condo price slipped to $537,000, down 1.5% from a year earlier.
