The St. Patrick's Day Parade in South Boston is expected to attract nearly 1 million attendees on Sunday, March 15. Kickoff for the parade will be at 11:30 a.m.
MBTA officials are urging those who plan to attend the parade to use public transportation rather than drive. According to a NewsCenter 5 WCVB report, the parade will run from Andrew Square up Dorchester Street, turn right onto Telegraph Street, proceed around Thomas Park, down Broadway, and end on A Street.

Here's what you need to know about using public transportation on parade day:
Complimentary shuttles will run between South Station and South Boston on parade day, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To South Boston
- Shuttle pickup: Summer Street at Atlantic Avenue
- Shuttle drop-off: East First Street at City Point Bus Terminal
To South Station
- Shuttle pickup: East First Street at City Point Bus Terminal
- Shuttle drop-off: Summer Street at Atlantic Avenue
The Red Line will operate on a rush hour schedule from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Service may skip the Broadway station at certain times of the day due to crowds.
The Commuter Rail and MBTA buses will also operate on parade day with special schedules.
Parking Restrictions

Public Safety Warnings
Boston police remind individuals celebrating the holiday to keep drinks in sight at all times and obtain beverages only from bartenders. Public drinking, giving alcohol to minors, and open-container possession are illegal and can lead to arrest.
